Amish Country Tour incl. Buggy Ride

 

 

We will start our tour at 7:30 am in midtown Manhattan, 8th Avenue between 33rd and 34th Street (by Duane Reade) DON'T BE LATE! Come 15 minutes early to check in. You will be greeted by your tour guide for the day. You will sign our liability waiver, and after departure a light breakfast will be served on board the van.

We will then drive to the oldest Amish community in America Amish country in Lancaster County. Step back in time and experience the life and heritage of the Amish community. Learn about the daily life of a self sufficient community that has remained true to their beliefs meanwhile the rest of the world has changed.

 

Enjoy an educational guided tour through a 1840's Amish farm house and see a one room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop and farm animals typical for the Amish community. You will also have the opportunity of buying authentic Amish art, handicrafts and homemade jams and jellies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We will then enjoy an all you can eat buffet lunch including traditional Amish dishes.

 

 

 

 

 

After lunch you will have some time to visit a large Farmers Market featuring local vendors with a wide variety of homemade goodies. Fresh meats, cheese, fruits & vegetables, baked & canned goods, spices, and candy. Other stores on the premises includes a Candle & Gift store, a Farmers Market Gift Shop and Crafts.

 

 

Next you will get to experience how the Amish travel, in an original Amish buggy. Take a leisurely trip through the back roads of the Amish country side.

 

 

We will also stop by a real non-commercial working Amish farm where you will learn more about the Amish farm lifestyle.

We will drive back to NYC.

Arrival back to NYC at approximately 8:30 pm.

WHAT TO BRING AND WEAR ON THE TOUR:

 

ID: Please bring a valid government issued identification. (Only adults)

CLOTHES: according to the weather. 

RAIN GEAR: Even with no rain in the forecast, we recommend that you bring this 

WATER: In a plastic bottle, especially on hot days. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

CAMERA: With extra film/memory is highly recommended.

CASH: Although our tour is classified as an "all inclusive". It is advisable to bring some cash for Amish products, souvenirs and gratuities for the guide which is left to your discretion.

AN OPEN MIND: Although this is a recreational/leisure tour, you will also learn about the interesting lives of the Amish people.
