TOUR 1 - Kaaterskill Falls & Howe Caverns

We will start our tour at 7:00 am. We will meet at 8th Ave Between 33rd & 34th Street in Manhattan by Duane Reade. DON'T BE LATE! Come 15 minutes early to check in.

You will be greeted by your tour guide for the day. You will sign our liability waiver, and after departure a light breakfast will be served on board the van.

Our first stop in the Catskill Mountains is a hike to the spectacular 260 ft. cascade waterfall Kaaterskill Falls. This is the tallest two-tiered waterfall within NY State, taller than even the Niagara Falls.

On this hike you will have the option of an easy hike to a viewing platform of the falls which is 0.3 mile from the parking lot making the hike a 0.6 mile roundtrip, with an elevation gain of about 125 ft. The photo above is taken from the viewing platform.

You can also choose to hike all the way to the bottom of the falls by a trail with partially a lot of stairs. This will make the hike a 1.6 mile more moderate roundtrip hike with an elevation gain of about 400 ft.

From the bottom is probably the best view of the Kaaterskill Falls.

On the hike to the bottom, you can stop in the middle of the waterfall where there is a small pool, the amount of water will determent how close you can get to the falls.

You will have time to take photos and to enjoy the amazing natural surroundings.

After the hike, we will drive through the spectacular scenery of the Catskill Mountains.

We will enjoy lunch with non-alcoholic beverages included at a restaurant.

We will visit Howe Caverns. The largest caverns in the North East open to the public.

You will receive a guided tour where you will view and learn about spectacular limestone formations millions of years old.

You will enjoy a guided boat ride on the underground lake “Lake of Venus”, where you will explore more stalactites, stalagmites and limestone formations.

We will drive back to NYC.
